Fight Like A Girl!...

Three years ago Nikki wanted to get her bellybutton pierced (at 16) and John said the ONLY way he'd allow it, is if she swore to never get a tattoo. Never. Even at 40! lol. She agreed, mostly because she was never passionate enough about anything to get one. Until now.

She asked me the other day if I thought John would agree to her getting a breast cancer tattoo. I was soooooo touched. Then she asked if I'd get one with her, and I said, YES!

So...John has reluctantly agreed, and we're planning our tattoos.

Nikki's will be the pink ribbon, surrounded by Mother's, Daughter's, Sister's, Friend's, in the shape of a heart.

And mine, which I am SO excited about, will be pink boxing gloves hanging from the pink breast cancer ribbon, instead of rope or string. It will say, "Fight Like A Girl". I think, Fight will be on top, and Like A Girl, on the bottom. But not sure yet. And I might have the Mother's, Sister's, Daughter's, Friend's, going around the ribbon in smaller writing.

Kim is getting one, too! Anyone want to join us for a good cause?

I have been debating the tatoo thing for a while. I already have one, but I really want another! I had told my husband I could wait until our 10th anniversary, but this sounds way too cool!!! I just may have to change my mind. 7.5 is close to 10, right?

Yes, it's close enough! And I have one already, too, and swore I'd never get another. But...this is for a very good cause! My other tattoo is a cross with a dove.

Oh wow, that's too funny. I actually told the people at work that when I shaved my head for Renee, I was going to get "CANCER SUCKS" tatooed on my bald head. Can you say "soooo not country fresh to have the work SUCKS on your head?" Yeah, so I didn't do it. Which is really good. My second thought was to get the pink ribbon put at the base of my skull. Nah, I didn't do that one either. See, I have one tat, and I swore I'd never do it again because well, it hurt worse than childbirth and I'm a wuss.
But I've really been thinking about doing this same thing, and Shane keeps shaking his head reminding me how I CRIED LIKE A BABY the last time. So yeah, I could do this, for YOU, Michele, and for Renee. I could, really.
When is the day? Can I wait til I go visit Char and she can hold my hand?

Dee, that's awesome! And can I say how awesome it is that you shaved your head for Renee! I love it. How is she doing? Please tell her if she needs to talk to someone who's gone through it, to PLEASE call me or email. Okay?

So...we'll get as many people together as we can, and if possible, we'll all get them on the same day!

When are you going to visit Charity?

Also, my hair is fiiiiinally starting to grow! Yes! I love looking in the mirror now. I get perma-smile! From a distance you can't see it, yet, but it's comin' baby...it's comin'!

There is an AWESOME tat parlor here. The guy is amazing! I didn't think the tat hurt. I think it is all about location baby! My next one will be on my neck (on the nape) and the tat guy said that was one of the less painful places to get one.

My older sister just got hers when she was here this summer and she didn't even flinch. I'm still trying to figure out if it was because she was trying to impress me, or if she really felt NO discomfort. I thought mine felt like getting a rug burn.

Yep, I say we all go for it. Pick a day, and then we can come up with some kind of cute name for it.

YES! I agree, Charity. And although my first one is on my outter ankle, I didn't think it hurt that bad either. This one will be on my right leg, outter ankle.

I researched tattoo shops last night on line, and found two that are really close to us, and I'm really interested in. Both artists have won numerous awards at big tat shows. One of them is a woman.

Dee, when are you visiting Charity?

Maybe we should make an announcement on JCF and other places, and have others join in! I wish we could get like a hundred or more people to do it at once, and have the tat shops donate a portion of their proceeds to one of the BC organizations!

How cool would that be?

I'm planning mine. I drew it out and I'm going to work on it some more. It's the WHERE that I'm not sure of. Both my tats are in places I can hide them if need be (hip and lower back).

Personally, I don't care so much but my hubby does. Don't get me wrong, he loves my tattoos, but he has some family members that he doen't think would understand.

Again, *I* don't care. I think my ankle would be a great place for a pink ribbon. Anyway, as soon as I decide the where, I'm on it.

Hugs,
Kim:)
